Vacuum Grippers

The term 'vacuum gripper' can be used as a general word to describe a vacuum lifting device that grips the item or product being lifted.

In literal terms all vacuum cups, vacuum pads or suction pads can be described as vacuum grippers but in the industry, vacuum gripper usually means a vacuum lifting head which has an array of cups or vacuum areas. There are basically two types of vacuum gripper; e.g. a plate fitted with an array of vacuum cups in rows or a soft foam covered plate with an array of vacuum areas.

Vacuum grippers are usually attached to robots or pick & place machines and can be used for lifting a wide range of products or materials. Typically they are used to lift cardboard cartons, eggs, trays of tubs, wood, electronic boards, till rolls etc. The main benefit of the vacuum gripper is that it can lift multiple items at the same time and materials with irregular surfaces.
